A typical day

Starfish (0–24 months)

7.30am – Meet and greet parents and children, breakfast served until 8.30am
8.30am – Indoor experiences, play dough, creative provisions, music and stories. Munch and Move program
9.30am – Nappies changed and sleeptime for our babies in need of a sleep (please note, there are set nappy changing times, but if a nappy is required to be changed at other times, this is done).
10.00am – Morning Tea of fresh fruit and vegetables and puree
10.30am – If weather is favourable we will go outside for a play where we will enjoy dancing, gardening, artwork and stories
11.45am – Early lunch/bed arranged for children who require this
12.00 – Lunch is served to the other children
Nappies changed, and children’s rest time
As children wake, nappies are changed and hands are washed
Second sleep time for children who need one
3.00pm – Afternoon tea is served. Outdoor play if possible/or indoor play
4.00-4.30pm – Nappies changed
5.00pm – Small snack of toast is served.
Quiet indoor play, stories and songs
6.00pm – Parents collect children before 6.00pm and Centre closes for the day.

Joeys (2 years)

7:30am – Meet and greet parents and children, indoor play experiences, fine motor, construction and children’s choice of table activities
Breakfast is served until 8.30am
9:30am – Aboriginal acknowledgments, “Hello” time with stories and Munch & Move program
10:00am – Morning tea of a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables
10:30am – Outdoor play and art experiences
11.45am – Educational Group Time with the children
12:30pm – Lunch time
12:45pm – Sleep time and quiet activities for non sleepers
3:00pm – Storytime and songs
3:15pm – Afternoon tea is served
3.30pm – Outdoor play free play and activities
5:00pm – Inside for toast time, outdoors in the summer months
5:30pm – Choice of stories, songs or music
6:00pm – Parents collect children before 6.00pm and Centre closes for the day.

Cubs  (3–4 years)

Cubs (3 years)
7.30 am – Meet and greet parents and children. Breakfast is served until 8.30am
7.30am-9.00am – Combined indoor play experiences with the 4-5 year old Lion group including home corner, construction area, literacy table, fine motor table and the reading hut
9.00am – Cub group splits from Lions group and the Cubs go outdoors for free play.
9.30am – Progressive morning tea and toileting
10.00am – Aboriginal acknowledgments. Days of the Week and News Time in Cub Cave
10.30am – Free indoor play activities and Munch and Move program
11.30am – Project Time, main group time of the day which follows the children’s interests and the Project Approach
12.00pm – Lunch time and then toileting
1.00pm – Reading time, sleep time.
1.50pm – Table top activities such as drawing, collaging and lego
3.00pm – Music activities, musical bops, statues, dancing and singing
3.30pm – Progressive afternoon tea and combined outdoor free play experiences with the 4-5 year old Lion group
5.00pm – Toast time and free play indoors with the Lions group
6:00pm – Parents collect children before 6.00pm and Centre closes for the day

Having fun at Warringah Mall Child Care Centre

Lions (4–5 years)

7.30am – Meet and greet parents and children. Breakfast is served until 8.30am
7.30am-9.00am – Combined indoor free play experiences with the 3 year old Cub group including home corner, construction area, literacy table, fine motor table and the reading hut
9.00am – Groups split and the Lions do Munch and Move program and indoor free play activities which includes learning Spanish on our tablets through our ELLA Program
9.30am – Progressive morning tea and toileting
10.00am – Aboriginal acknowledgments. Phonics Fun learning group time – learning a letter each week and children bring in something starting with the week’s letter for News Time
10.30am – Lions go outdoors for free play experiences
11.30pm – Project Time – main group time of the day following a specific project topic based on the children’s interests and the Project Approach
12.00pm – Lunch time and then toileting
12.30pm – Reading time/sleep time/rest time/quiet resting table top activities with 3-4 age group
3.00pm – Music activities e.g dancing or singing
3.30pm – Progressive afternoon tea and combined outdoor free play experiences
5.00pm – Toast time and indoor free play with the Cubs group
6:00pm – Parents collect children before 6.00pm and Centre closes for the day.
